Terms of service
These terms apply to transportation services provided by Hunt Valley Drive ("we", "us"). Booking a trip means you accept them.
1. The service
We provide prearranged private passenger transportation using a single full-size SUV seating up to 6 passengers plus the driver. All trips are arranged in advance. We are not a taxi and do not accept street hails.
We hold operating authority from the Maryland Public Service Commission and the airport permits required for the pickups we advertise. Copies are available on request.
2. Bookings and quotes
A quote is given before the trip based on the route, timing and details you provide. A booking is confirmed when we tell you it is confirmed, by phone, text or email.
Quotes assume the details you gave are accurate. If the actual trip differs materially — additional stops, a different destination, significantly more waiting time, or more passengers or luggage than stated — the price may be adjusted, and we will tell you before proceeding wherever it is practical to do so.
We may decline or cancel a booking where the vehicle is unsuitable for the request, where the trip cannot be carried out safely or lawfully, or where the vehicle has already been reserved.
3. Payment
There are two ways to pay, and you choose which when you book.
- Pay after the ride. A payment card is held on file to secure the booking. No money is taken at that point. The card is charged for the agreed fare once the trip is complete.
- Prepay. If you prefer, you can pay the full fare in advance at the time of booking.
Card details are handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card number ourselves. By providing a card you authorise us to charge the agreed fare for the trip, together with any additional charges set out in these terms that you have been told about.
Tolls, parking charges and airport access fees are included in the quoted price unless we state otherwise when quoting. Gratuities are not included and are entirely at your discretion.
4. Cancellations and changes
Cancel with reasonable notice and there is no charge. As a guide, "reasonable" means at least 12 hours before a local trip and at least 24 hours before a long-distance trip or an event booking, though we would always rather you called and talked to us than assumed the worst.
For late cancellations, and where a passenger does not appear at the agreed pickup point and cannot be reached, we may charge a fee to the card on file reflecting the time reserved and travel already undertaken. Any such fee will be explained to you before it is charged wherever it is practical to do so.
Where a trip has been prepaid and is cancelled with reasonable notice, the amount paid is refunded in full.
If we have to cancel — mechanical failure, illness, or conditions that make the trip unsafe — you owe nothing, and we will help you find an alternative wherever we can.
5. Timing, delays and flights
We plan routes with time to spare and we take punctuality seriously. But traffic, weather, road closures and accidents are outside anyone's control. We cannot guarantee arrival by a specific time and we are not liable for missed flights, missed connections, or missed events. Please allow sensible margins, and tell us if a deadline is tight so we can plan for it.
For airport arrivals, give us your flight number and we will track it. Waiting time is included as follows: 60 minutes after an international arrival lands, 30 minutes after a domestic arrival lands, and 15 minutes for all other pickups. Beyond those windows, additional waiting may be charged.
6. Passengers and conduct
The person who makes the booking is responsible for their party. Everyone must wear a seat belt. The driver's instructions regarding safety are to be followed.
The following are not permitted in the vehicle:
- Smoking or vaping of any kind.
- Illegal drugs.
- Behaviour that is threatening, abusive, or that interferes with safe driving.
- Carrying more passengers than the vehicle is licensed to seat.
The driver may end a trip where these terms are breached or where continuing would be unsafe. In that event the fare remains payable, and passengers will be set down in a safe and reasonable location.
Where a passenger causes soiling or damage requiring professional cleaning or repair, the reasonable cost of that cleaning or repair may be charged to the card on file. You will be told the amount and the reason for it.
7. Children
Maryland law requires an appropriate child restraint for children under eight years of age, subject to the exceptions in the statute. You may bring your own seat, or ask us to provide one with at least 24 hours' notice. We may decline to carry a child without a lawful restraint.
8. Luggage and property
Luggage is carried at your own risk. Tell us in advance if you have unusual quantities or oversized items so we can confirm they will fit.
We are not responsible for property left in the vehicle. If something is found we will make reasonable efforts to return it, and may ask you to cover the cost of doing so.
9. Refreshments and special requests
Bottled water and a small selection of snacks are provided at no charge. Specific requests are welcome with at least 24 hours' notice and are subject to availability. We cannot guarantee any item is free from a particular allergen, so passengers with allergies should not rely on what is provided in the vehicle.
10. Limitation of liability
We maintain the commercial passenger insurance required of licensed carriers in Maryland, and nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, our total liability arising from any trip is limited to the amount paid for that trip. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — including missed flights, lost business, cancelled accommodation, or lost opportunity — arising from delay or from a trip we were unable to complete.
11. Events outside our control
We are not liable for failure to perform where it is caused by something beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, road closures, accidents, civil disruption, or vehicle failure despite proper maintenance. Where this happens we will tell you as soon as we can and no cancellation fee applies.
12. Complaints
If something goes wrong, call (410) 555-0100 or email booking@example.com. We would much rather hear about it and put it right. As a licensed carrier, we are also subject to oversight by the Maryland Public Service Commission's Transportation Division, which accepts consumer complaints.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, and any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Maryland. Nothing here removes any right you have under Maryland consumer protection law.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published on this page at the time your booking is confirmed.
